does one need a reason to dance?

have you ever been compelled to dance by something that is just so right, so engaging that your feet move seemingly with a will of their own.

the first time i ever saw WWIV an auckland garage rock band i felt exactly this way, a quiet night at the kings arms tavern in newton gully. i swear the whole audience was up on their feet.

it ain’t paranoia mp3

can a fulfilling life be led if games of chance are used to make major decisions ?

the dice man is an incredible book. exciting to read as a teenager, the romantic notion that one could let go of all expectation and through a list of choices and a single die open oneself up to all of the possibilities that arise.

in reality leaving things up to a coin toss, the roll of a die, or any game of chance can lead to confusion, increased expectation, eventually becoming crippling indecision.

the next level is to not make any decision, letting life bring what it may, free from any expectation.

there is only one cure when you have an aural hallucination, a phantom sound, a song stuck in your head.

listen to the real thing.

do whatever it takes to track it down, you need to hear it, if the first listen is but a tease then listen again, and again.

the world can feel like a big room sometimes, having knowledge of who you are, what you want can provide a sense that everywhere is home.

anywhere is home.

alot of the time that room is full to the brim with other people, at other times it can be empty, at night when there are less people around: or perhaps that which is going on inside your head is so engaging that you are living there.

outside in the big empty room.

the adventures of grandmaster flash on the wheels of steel [1981]. listening to this almost 30 years after it was created, i came to realise how easily we become accustomed to a higher level of skill.

what was groundbreaking when it was first released, the mixing of songs together with scratching, sounds, well… primitive by today’s standards, things have definitely moved forward.

i wonder how far we can continue to take things further. someone much more knowledgeable than i in such matters, explained to me that a country’s  economy must constantly show growth in order to be considered healthy.

with resources being finite there surely must be a point when growth can no longer continue.

what could the next paradigm of human existence possibly be?
